There can be a great deal of stored energy in the springs and if you're not careful you may end up making a trip to the ER. The type of movement that I disassemble in the video has springs that are not in a barrel. They are open to the environment. I show you the two springs that are present and their purpose in the clock. I also discuss the way to safely remove the spring tension without damaging the clock parts or yourself. Remember to always wear your steampunk safety goggles and gloves. In the video you'll see that you can allow the movement to unwind with your hands clear from danger. I show you the parts that you remove or modify to allow the gears to spin freely. I also show how to remove the tension with a winding key. This is a slow process and takes time. I hope that you use this information to avoid injury and get lots of parts for you steampunk art projects.

Note: It appears that the Westminster chimes are out of sync and start on the second bar of the third quarter hour when the first quarter hour chimes. After that the notes follow in sequence. ie. half hour chime uses the third bar of the third quarter hour and the first bar of the full hour chime. It took me a while to realize the chimes were off and I do not intend to do anything about it as other than that the clock works OK. 197(?) Emperor Clock Company Model 120 with Jauch model 100M movement. My father and brother started building this Grandfather's clock in the late seventies. The unfinished clock sat in pieces in my garage for over 27 years; I am surprised it survived. We decided to work on it in April of 2010 and finally finished it February 15, 2011. I had to mill two missing hood pieces but other than that the wooden parts went together smoothly. I had to build a test stand to adjust the movement and chimes as parts were bent and out of adjustment from storage. The movement was in the test stand for several weeks as I adjusted the beat and made the chimes sound at the proper hours. When we installed the movement in the case it ran without any problem.

Neutral shades of beige and dark wood occupy most of the space—quite a vacant and quiet place. An old grandfather clock hangs on the wall silent, unmoving—staring into the unchanging home—frozen still at 7:45 as if time actually stopped with this old clock's arms. I'm here mainly at night, only accompanied by him—I'm barely able to detect his presence from the other room. Where I live, many creatures are constantly in action. Children, pets, parents, television, video games, neighbors—the noise level sometimes reaches unbearable decibels. Here... here everything is quiet and still for the exception of the low steady hum of the refrigerator and the tiny orchestra of crickets outside. The answering machine chirps a steady, pulsing beep—but predictable enough to almost ignore. It is more calming here than anywhere else I am able to go—a blank canvas of sorts—the only place that keeps me apart from overwhelming activity or seemingly unavoidable and mindless media. I am able to exhale a sigh—releasing all of my stresses and concerns of the day. I am able to clear my mind and rest, which allows my own thoughts to finally emerge and speak clearly to me.

Ridgeway Grandfather Clock Rescue ! and Howard Miller Mantel Clock Video Clips. Duration : 3.40 Mins.
I stopped at a 2nd hand appliance & junk store, and to my surprise he had this once quality time piece thrown in a storage room full of junk piled up against it. The weights were hanging by white electrical cord, how classy was that. It was very dirty, full of cigarette smoke, and had been there for years. I should have taken before pictures, but I started cleaning it up right away.. I was really surprised when he said I could have it for 50.00, and feeling sorry for the clock in such a place, and condition couldn't pass it up. I thoroughly cleaned the case and renewed the finish. I took the mechanism out, removed the face, and cleaned it in Carburetor cleaner to remove the sticky old oil and smoke. It looked more like a dirty toaster oven than a clock mechanism. After cleaning I oiled and adjusted the mechanism. It looks again like a grandfather clock should, and keeps good time. The appliance store was below an old 3 story apartment building that caught fire 6 weeks after I bought the clock, and was structurally dangerous so the city tore the building down the next day. A few days later I found the little Howard Miller Mantel clock at an estate sale. Unlike the Ridgeway it was in excellent like new condition and didn't need anything, and Ingra really likes it.

Maples Clock Large Moving-Gear Wall Clock Video Clips. Duration : 1.78 Mins.
I saw one of these hanging on the wall at a client's home. I loved it and had to find out more about them...and have one. The company is called Maples Clock and they make a variety of very cool wall clocks, including a full line of "Gear wall clocks" that are basically cool modern skeleton wall clocks. The one I got is called the Large Moving-Gear Wall Clock with Glass Cover Gear wall clock with front glass cover Clock Size: 8″ x 22″ Clock NW: 8 lbs Battery: 2 x Size D (1.5v) You can see it and others at www.maplesclock.com It is REALLY impressive. The large red second hand sweeps VERY smoothly like a nice automatic wrist watch. It is a fake automatic and the entire clock is actually run by 2 D-Batteries. There is a pull chain at the very bottom that when pulled activates all of the spinning "gears" to begin moving. The moving gears really have nothing to do with the actual watch working, but still look REALLY cool when they are all moving and turning. So you can have just the clock running all the time, and only activate the moving gears when you have company or want to watch everything move

ECE471 Embedded Systems final project. Made on a very restricted budget. 2000 rpm computer fan mounted on a wooden stand. Powered using a PIC18F2610, using a 25MHz external oscillator. A hall effect sensor is used to maintain a correct vision of the clock no matter how fast it is spinning. 9 LEDs make up the clock 1 green for the border and 8 red for the hour, minute, and second hands. 4 hash marks at 3, 6, 9 and 12. A slip ring is used to carry the charge through the propeller and 2 470uF capacitors to keep the charge constant.

Repair Skateboard Deck Razor Tail & Delamination Tube. Duration : 4.50 Mins.
When the tail of a skateboard deck gets warn down it becomes known as a "razor tail". This describes how thin or "sharp" the wood becomes. A razor tail can lead to chipping and it reduces "pop" from the deck becoming less stiff or rigid. By applying wood glue and reshaping the tail with sandpaper a deck can last a lot longer and get some pop back to make tricks higher. Sometimes a skateboard might get away from you and slam directly into a wall, ledge, or a curb, causing the veneers or plies of wood to separate and/or chip. In skateboarding, this is known as delamination. Delamination can also be caused by leaving a deck outside for too long. What happens is moisture gets into the deck causing it to expand and separate the veneers from each other. A skateboard deck can also come apart from being left in a hot car. In these cases the damage can be quite extreme and it may be better to replace the deck than try to repair it. VERY RARELY does a skateboard deck delaminate on its own. Nearly all manufactures warranty against delamination within a defined time period. If this actually happened to you the skateboard shop you purchased the deck from or the manufacturer may exchange the deck for a new one if they can determine that it was not caused by negligence. The Bradford City Fire Disaster occurred on Saturday May 11, 1985 when a flash fire consumed one side of the Valley Parade football stadium in Bradford, England. The fire broke out during a football match between the home team (Bradford City), and Lincoln City, on the day that Bradford City were supposed to have celebrated their winning the Football League Third Division trophy. 56 people lost their lives. After 40 minutes of the first half, the score remained 00, in what was described as a drab affair with neither team threatening to score. At 3:40 pm, five minutes before half-time, the first sign of a fire a glowing light was noticed three rows from the back of block G.[15] It is believed the fire started when a spectator dropped either a match, cigarette or tobacco, which fell through holes in the stand to rubbish which had accumulated below. One witness saw paper or debris on fire, about nine inches below the floor boards. Spectators initially felt their feet becoming warmer; one of them ran to the back of the stand for a fire extinguisher but found none. A police officer shouted to a colleague for an extinguisher. However, his call was misheard and instead the fire brigade were radioed. The call was timed at 3:43 pm. However, the fire escalated and flames became visible, and so police started to evacuate the stand. The blaze began to spread; the roof and wooden stands were on fire. One eyewitness ...
