He disappeared outside the door into the rain. I walked to the door to look for him just as another bolt of lightning darted out from between the clouds. After back pedalling a few steps, I continued back to the doorway and let my eyes scan the backyard for Zach. I caught sight of him sitting on a bench swing inside a big white gazebo in the middle of the grassy, wet backyard. I checked the sky for any signs of lightning before I hurried across the backyard to Zach. Though I thought I had made it safe, another lightning bolt struck out from the sky when I was halfway up the stairs of the gazebo. This strike was closer and louder than the others, and made me slip and fall. My knees hit the wood hard and tore through my jeans a bit. Zach ran to me and helped me stand up. "Are you okay?" he asked, worried. "Yeah, I'm fine," I assured him. He held up most of my weight off my hurt legs and I suggested that maybe we go back in. "Not yet," he said, picking me up and setting my on the one of the little walls. "It would probably be safer," I reminded him. I tried to stand up, but he held up on the wall. He shook his head no and took a hold of my waist. "No, no more putting it off! I've been trying to kiss you all day and I haven't done it yet! I won't let anything interrupt me this time!" he exclaimed. "Za-" I started to say his name, but he stopped me. "Why can't I just kiss you!? Do you not want me to? Is that why I haven't been able to all day!? Am I out of line!? Am I-" he ...
